Gale Jones Murphy
At age three, Gale’s parents first noticed that she was playing songs she heard at church, and by age five she was a designated church pianist. Formal piano lessons began at age six and continued into her adult life. Mrs. Murphy obtained her Bachelor of Music Education at Southern Missionary College, now Southern Adventist University and her Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance from Memphis State University.
To date, there are over 450 songs in her catalog, several of which have been recorded and have received national acclaim. She has written songs for Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church Choir, Dynamic Praise, Madison Mission Project and the Longview Heights SDA Choir CD’s of which she helped produce. She is a published choral writer with GIA publications and had two compositions make their debut at the Annual Hampton Minister’s Conference.
Gale’s source of inspiration is her husband of nearly three decades, William Murphy, who is a very talented bass player. Their three adult children are all musically talented.
Gale lives in Orlando, FL where she is Assistant Minister of Music at the New Covenant Baptist Church and Music Director and Chief Accompanist for the Negro Spiritual Scholarship Foundation.
Gale’s newest venture includes co-hosting a women’s talk show called, Keeping the Faith which will be aired on the Hope Channel. Gale is currently on tour as a concert pianist with Keys to the Kingdom, along with other renown artists: Shelton Kilby, Adrian Westney, Nancey Dudley, Michael Andrews, Jemuel Anderson, Brian Jones and Wayne Bucknor.
A former music educator, Gale was Music Department Chair at Forest Lake Academy in Apopka, FL, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Shelby State Community College in Memphis, TN, and an Orff Music Specialist with the Memphis City Schools.
